| Tao Bi, a local official of 20years in Guangxi in Beisong Dynasty, is one of the outstanding scholars in that large group. There has been a lot of records about the great scholar, such as legends and inscriptions. However, quite a few doubts and emptiness exist. For example, nobody has sorted out the edition origin of his poetry Poems Collection by Tao Yongzhou. It is fortunate that now many experts,such as He Dehua, Liang Delin and Shi Lulu, have conducted relevant research into the poetry of Tao Bi, but most of them base their research on the partial or superficial fields. Therefore, a further research of the poetry by Tao Bi is to be conducted, it is essential that the overall arrangement of annals of his poetry should be conducted.Chapter One, based on the above ideas, is to reconfirm the year of his birth and death with the help of relative documents and sources, removing the doubt of the different time of his bury in different literature. His family and martial relations are also discussed in this part, adding some sources about the events of his family members. It can be shown that his family made great contribution to the development of Guangxi. Furthermore, this paper makes a detailed description about each period of his service to being official, which provides a better understanding about his poets in different periods. The discussion about his trips helps to know his character and nature.In Chapter Two, it is about the correction of the mistakes in the interpretation of the title Poems Collection by Tao Yongzhou, holding the opinion that it is due to the fact that Tao Bi served three times as the official in Guangxi. In addition, efforts are made to find out about ten editions of the collection and through comparison and analysis, the problem of edition origin is solved. From Nansong Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, there have been different editions of the Poems Collection by Tao Yongzhou, including the edition of 72 poems and the edition of 73 poems, which hinders to classify into any origin.Chapter Three is an account about the poets by Tao Bi. The themes in his poets are mainly about landscape, frontiers and objects, among which landscape lists at the top both in the number or influence. In his poems, you can find different styles ranging from fresh to serious style; lvshi and jueju play an equally important part in his works. His poetry, concerned about his emotions in different trips, have been read aloud and appreciated in all parts of Guangxi and it has served as one of the most important origins in the research of stone inscription and folk customs.The last chapter is the collection of the forefathers'addendum of the poems by Tao Bi, adding another two newly found poems and recognizing two false poems. Thus, there are as many as 188 poems by the great poet,15 more than the 173 poems mentioned in the dissertation by Shi Lulu. Besides, efforts are made to the comprehensive explanation and annals arrangement according to the carefully selected origins and corrections. All in all, it aims to make the poems by Tao Bi a promoted collection with clear catalogues, lay out and explanation. |
