Study On The Mengshan Yue Dialects In Guangxi Province

Mengshan Yue dialects are widely used all around the Mengshan County with a great difference between its southern areas and northern areas. The main body of this paper takes the Xinxu Town and the Chentang Town, which are the representative spots of northern Yue dialects and southern Yue dialects e respectively, as the investigation spots. Through field investigating of the Mengshan Yue dialects in a depth meticulously way, we can describe its phonetic system, vocabulary system and grammar system more completel,revealed the language features of Mengshan Yue dialects,and provided cases for the study of dialects. Meanwhile, we can also excavate a little southern minority language component on the basis of them. Thus, it supplies sufficient material for the language to contact the theories.This thesis consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the foreword which gives a brief introduction about the Mengshan county's geographic location, historical evolution, nation and language service condition, as well as the investigation spots and people who cooperates my study, and the research status. And it also explains briefly the purpose, significance, research approaches and materials of this paper.The second chapter studies the pronunciation of the Mengshan Yue dialects. It mainly depicts the phonetic system of Xinxu dialect and Chentang dialect completely, compares the Xinxu dialect and Chentang dialect with the ancient Chinese phonology respectively, and then generalizes the phonetic features of the Xinxu dialect and Chentang dialect.The third chapter studies the vocabulary of Mengshan Yue dialects. This chapter we describe the vocabulary system of Mengshan Yue dialects completely, and on the bases of it, it totally describes vocabulary features of Mengshan Yue dialects at four aspects which are the reservation of Archaisms, the reservation of Bottom word, the lexical meaning and the grounds of word creation. To some extent, the Xinxuhua and Chentanghua both have reserved a part of Archaisms and Bottom words in Zhuang language and Dong language. While the lexical meaning embodies in the homonym and the extent of word sense, the grounds of word creation, according to object's form, attribute, function, origin and color, discusses the lexical diversities brought by the different grounds of word creation.The forth chapter is the grammar study of the Mengshan Yue dialects. It primarily compares the taxeme between Xinxu dialect and Chentang dialect comprehensively, and summarizes the similarities and differences at the aspects of their morphology and syntax. The morphology mainly introduces some distinctive word classes, such as the affixes of nouns, the vivid forms of verbs and adjectives; while the syntax introduces some special word orders and sentence patterns.The Fifth chapter is the conclusion part. It mainly summarizes the similar and different areas of Xinxu dialect and Chentang dialect in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar aspects. And it shows us some characteristics of Xinxu dialect and Chentang dialect, which are brought by the influence of its neighboring dialect and Zhuang language and Dong language.The sixth chapter is the source of the corpus phonetic symbol of Mengshan Yue dialects. Mainly to investigate the syntax of proverbs, allegorical sayings, riddles, songs, festivals, wedding celebrations and folk legends is to unfold all these corpus, and then to provide the utterance materials for pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar researches.
