The multi-voice phenomenon of Taosim music is a muitiple music phenomenon which comes into being naturally when Taoists are singing and playing during the ceremony music activities.lt is influenced by different ages, sexes, ranges, noises, distances, speeds and qualities of different instruments. It differs from the polyphony born in the West with which we are very familiar. At present, there is still much in the Daosim ceremony music with its unique fabric and art features, showing its important value and position that should not be neglected. However, at the moment, there is not any special investigation or research about it.That is to say,it is almost in a blank state. This paper is based on the previous research and my real survey. Taking two Taoists for example,I have given a systematic and deep research on the multi-voice phenomenon of Taoism music according to its characteristics, types, laws and origin. The whole body is consist of the summary of the ritual music and the comparative study of the multi-voice phenomenon of the ritual music in the two Taosim temples (Changchun Temple in Wuchang and Baiyun Temple in Shanghai),the theory analysis of the multi-voice phenomenon of Taosim music and the origin of it. Though the study of the sound effect and the original documents of Taosim,I have made a brief summary ang shown the main features of the multi-voice phenomenon of Taosim music from all sides, with my own analysis and judgement to the types, origin and the cause for it,trying to reflect the nature of it objectively and provide new materials, views and enlighment for the development of the multi-voice phenomenon of the religious music and even the Chinese multi-music in modern times.
