Taoist Music Study In Baiyun Temple In Lushan

Taoism is one of the major religions in China.Ancient witchcraft and religious belief which was well developed in the Pre-qin and the Han Dynasties are regarded as a source of Taoism.Taoism was officially founded in the end of East hang Dynasty.The development of Taoism music is closely connected with Taoism.It is derived from the ritual music of ancient wizard.Taoism music constitutes the rich variety of Chinese traditional music by right of its long history and diverse forms.Shandong is one of the most famous Taoism sacred places with exceptionally rich Taoism culture resources.Many Taoism books are produced in Shandong province since ancient times,Taoism temples and stone inscriptions also can be found everywhere in Shandong province.The study of Taoism music,which has evolved for about 100 years,accumulated a huge mass of data,which is very helpful for the study of contemporary Taoism music.The book,Yi Shan Taoism Music,which was written by Mr.Ma Xigan and recorded many Taoism songs,is provided the important data materials for this topic research.This paper was studied from the following aspects: First,consulting and compiling material of Yi Shan Baiyun Palace.Second,field research method is used to get accurate and detailed information.Third,combined theoretical methods with Folklore,History and Geography,and using discipline theory and research method of music subject,we can have a comprehensive understanding of the Taoism music of Yi Shan Baiyun Palace.In this paper,the study of the content mainly includes four important aspects.The first aspect is through thoroughly arranging the history of Yi Shan Taoism music to start the study.Second,it is necessary to have a field trip around Yi Shan Baiyun Palace and make detailed records of prayers music during morning and evening and blessing ceremony music in that area,in order to better explore Taoism stylized musiccharacteristics.Third,by analyzing the similarities and differences between the musical forms of Yi Shan Taoism music and Quanzhen Zhengyun to think about the reason why it changes.The last aspect is thinking about the influence between Yi Shan Taoism music and other types of music and culture.Depending on all above studies,the mainly conclusions as follows:First,Like other regional development,Yi Shan Taoism music also absorb some cultural resources of national folk music on the basis of keeping essential characteristic of Quanzhen Taoism music.Second,now,Yi Shan Taoism music and Quanzhen Zhengyun are consistent,which means Yi Shan Taoism music is a kind of normalized Quanzhen Zhengyun without a strong local color,and Yi Shan Taoist music remains pretty much the same as on the program of Taoism music of Baiyun temple in Beijing.Last but not least,Yi Shan Baiyun Palace and Taoism music,both the two are the important carrier of Chinese Taoism culture.For the further research of Yi Shan Taoism music will greatly benefit the whole religious culture and even Chinese national culture.For this,not only do Taoists need efforts,but also need the support of all sectors of society.
