| The purpose of the research is to examine the relation among Impression Management(IM), Emotion Regulation(ER) and Social Behavior(SB) in the sample of 854 college students, for little is known about the relation among them. In the present study, Impression Management Scale(IMS) was used to measure IM, Emotion Regulation Scale(ERS) for ER, and Texas Social Behavior Inventory(TSBI) for SB. Results indicate that:(1)IMS developed by us, includs 14 items and 4 dimensions:internal motivation(InM), external motivation(ExM), positive construction(PoC) and negative construction(NeC). The scale is proved to have high reliability and validity.(2)Impression management behaviors are prevalent among the collegements. The motivation mainly comes from internal. In terms of impression construction, college students prefer positive construction to negative construction.(3)Compared to male students, female students got higher scores on IMS, InM and ExM.(4)Student cadre got higher scores upon IMS, ExM and PoC than normal students, however much lower scores upon NeC than other students.(5)Students of CCP(chinese communist party) got lower scores on both InM and NeC than other students.(6)Students majored in arts got higher scores upon IMS, ExM and InM than those who majored in science.(7)Students coming from urban area got higher scores on IMS, PoC and NeC than thoes who comes from suburban area.(8) Freshmen got highern IMS, ExM and InM than both junior students and senior students.(9)IMS and its four dimensions are significantly related to ERS and TSBI.(10)PoC and Antecedent-Focused Emotion Regulation are effective postive predictors of SB, besides, NeC and ExM are effective negative predictor of SB. |
