| Higher vocational schools have begun to take the path of connotation development supported by relevant document and policy of the government, and the whole curriculum system has been deepened in education reform practice. Yet so far the English course, especially the ESP course has little success. Curriculum development is the core problem and also the most complex system of curriculum reform. We should reexamine the curriculum development thoughts if we want to solve current difficulties facing ESP curriculum in higher vocational colleges.On the basis of the analysis of the theories on curriculum development and guidance of the policies on curriculum development in higher vocational education, this paper tries to analyze the fact of ESP curriculum development in Changzhou Institute of Mechatronic Technology through research and investigation. Finally, according to the analysis of the reasons, we want to put forward some countermeasures and suggestions, attempted to explore suitable ways to construct a perfect system of ESP curriculum development for Changzhou Institute of Mechatronic Technology and provide some experience and reference for curriculum development in higher vocational education.The whole thesis consists of six chapters. Chapter one is an introduction to the research background, and it also deals with the significance of the study, research methods and some relevant concepts used in the thesis. Chapter two concerns the research on curriculum development at home and abroad. Chapter three summarizes the theoretical basis of ESP curriculum development in higher vocational education on principles and Needs Analysis of ESP curriculum. Chapter four presents the data and results of ESP curriculum development by charts on investigation. The investigation is mainly focused on four aspects:the positioning of ESP curriculum, curriculum content selection and organization, curriculum implement ion and curriculum evaluation. Chapter five offers some countermeasures to teachers and the school, and the final chapter draws the conclusions and points out the limitations. |
