Psychology is gradually formed in western modern times. The science takes human spiritual activities as the research object; Buddhism originated in ancient India, no matter there are thousands upon thousand of classic works in this religion, it pursues the essence of the heart always. Both are committed to the exploration of "heart", take the purpose of understanding the mind and getting rid of sufferings, which generates the possibility of communication between psychology and Buddhism in the basic level. Psychoanalysis is a unique further school of psychology. As the core of the psychoanalysis, the "collective unconscious" theory is recognized as the representation as the farthest exploration of the human mind. It is playing an increasingly important role in the field of mental health and psychological education; dhyana is a common method of spiritual cultivation in both exoteric and Esoteric Buddhism. With the spread of Buddhism in the world, dhyana has made tremendous contributions in the development of human physical and mental health, and aroused great attention domestic and foreign.Data studies, analytical comparison are used as the research methods here to sort out the similarities of ideas and content and compare the theory and practice in psychoanalysis and dhyana. On this basis, the significance of dhyana on psychological treatment and psychological education is discussed. The purpose of this study is to promote knowledge and understanding of psychological analysis and Buddhist meditation, and to strengthen the exchange and integration between different disciplines or areas, and thus to set up a bridge across the East and West to communicate and complete each other.The study is divided into four parts:The first part is introduction, mainly to explain the significance of the research topics, as well as progress in analysis and comparison of dhyana and psychoanalysis. The second part systematically describes the theoretical source and profound meaning of dhyanaThe third part, which is the thrust of the paper, respectively compared the three functions of psychoanalysis, namely, "release the uneasy emotions," "strengthen their security" and "promote awareness on consciousness", with Samatha and Vipasyana in dhyana to explain the similarities, and thus to make better services for the mental healthThe fourth part is the philosophical thinking and the conclusion on the relationship between the two. Providing useful lessons for the individuals to realize the mind through further understanding of relationship between body and mind, and psychological interpretation of the relationship between individual and collective.
