As a special social work group, migrant workers appear during a special historical period of China. Since the beginning of reform and opening up, migrant workers have made tremendous contributions to China's urban development, industrialization and modernization. However, due to China's dual social structure formed under specific historical conditions, migrant workers are considered as special "farmers", so that they cannot enjoy social security which citizens in the cities can enjoy, which is contrary to not only social fairness and justice principle, but also the essential requirements of the socialist system. Although the existence of the problem has its inevitability under specific historical conditions, we now have to and have had the capability to address the social problem. Based on the Marxist theory of social security, this thesis is to analyse the Status quo of Social security of Migrant workers in China, as well as the problems with the social security and the cause of these problems. Then, through the discussion of the need and feasibility to establish a social security system for migrant workers, specific measures and relevant policy will be proposed to establish China's social security system for migrant workers.This thesis includes five chapters:the first chapter is the introduction, which introduces the purpose and significance of the thesis, as well as the literature review on social security for migrant workers. The second chapter is the theoretical basis for social security and related concepts, the chapter introduces theoretical basis of the social security, as well as the concept, types and characteristics of migrant workers, and finally the meaning and features of social security; The third chapter is about the problems with China's social security for migrant workers and the causes of these problems, including that China's social security for migrant workers is lack of unemployment protection, health insurance, labor and social security and pension security, then the causes of the above problems are analyzed. The fourth chapter is about the need and feasibility to establish a social security system for migrant workers. The fifth chapter is to propose specific measures and relevant policy to establish China's social security system for migrant workers, as well as the principles to be followed.
