Aesthetic imagination is an important part of children's aesthetic psychology. Kindergarten art activity is an important way of developing children's aesthetic imagination. In the kindergarten Art activities, how do different paintings affect the children's aesthetic imagination? This aroused the interest of researcher.This study uses the method of 2x2 experimental group, the independent variable are the form and theme of paintings, and the dependent variable is aesthetic imagination of children aged 5-6. The researcher conducted educational experiment using eight paintings, and 72 5-6 years old children. Due to lack of scale, the researcher worked out a scale to evaluate children's aesthetic imagination. In order to do Scale, the researcher reviewed the literature, asked the experts, and collected information through the pre-experiment. Through the validity test and reliability test, scale can be used. After data collection, the researcher used SPSS 17.0 software to process the data.Experiment obtained the following conclusions:1. When children appreciated the different forms paintings, their aesthetic imagination exist significant differences. Appreciated the abstract paintings, children show a more rich aesthetic imagination. Specifically, in the diversity dimension, full dimension, and Original dimension showed significant differences. But in the emotional dimension did not show significant differences.2. When children appreciated the different themes paintings, their aesthetic imagination have no significant difference. Specifically, when children appreciated the painting of familiar theme, they show a more rich aesthetic imagination in the emotional dimension. But in the diversity dimension, full dimension, and original dimension did not show significant difference.3. From the perspective of themes and forms of interaction, when children appreciated the abstract paintings of familiar theme, they showed the most abundant aesthetic imagination. When children appreciated the figurative paintings of unfamiliar theme, they showed the poorest aesthetic imagination.According to the conclusion of the study and the performance of children in aesthetic activities, the researcher suggests that selecting the paintings should be following principles in the 5-6 years old children art appreciation activities:View from the form of painting, figurative and abstract painting all need, but as much as possible to choice abstract painting. View from the theme of painting, as much as possible to choice the painting of familiar theme. Finally, according to the conclusion of the study and educational practice, the researcher presented the suggestions about how to cultivate children's aesthetic imagination.
