Analysis Of The Feasibility Of The Entrance Of "Traditional Wushu" Into Wushu Compulsory Courses For Physical Education Majors In Hebei Colleges And Universities

Traditional Whshu has a long history in China and condenses a rich cultural background. It serves the large people because of its rich content, various functions, powerful vitality, and different forms. More importantly, it performs the function of promoting the socialdevelop-ment.During its development in the past thousands of years, various schools and boxing genres have taken shape and spread rapidly in a relatively stable district, which was called the regional traditional Wushu with distinct features. Hebei province, as a home of Wushu, has a rich traditional Wushu resource and dense Wushu cultural atmosphere, and the folk custom of practicing Wushu. P.E college students are relatively capable of spreading sports culture and sports skills and their levels of cultural literacy are not only connected with the prosperity of physical culture and sports of our country, but also related to the furtherance of Chinese sports culture, therefore, introducing traditional Wushu into the college P.E department will enable the students to understand traditional Chinese Wushu culture and master the Wushu routine. Besides, it is helpful to stimulate students' health development in physical and mental aspects, establish sublime national consciousness, and promote the spread and further development of traditional Chinese folk sports culture.Due to the rapid development of competitive sports and the influences of foreign recre-ational sports, the development of Chinese traditional Wushu is impeded. As a result, schools of all level pay less attention to traditional Wushu teaching, many problems and restrictive factors arise. This paper centers on making traditional Wushu the main teaching content of compulsory courses for physical Education majors and influencing P.E college students by the national traditional culture so as to promote traditional Wushu to develop rapidly all over the province of Hebei.By means of documentation, interviews, questionaire, mathematical-statistics, and log-ical analysis, according to the investigation of Wushu teachers and students in the thirteen P.E departments of Hebei province, this paper makes a research and analysis on the tradi--tional Wushu teaching in the P.E department at this stage, value cognition of setting up tra-ditional Wushu course in the P.E major, and the restrictive factors and the existing main pro-blems. Finally, it demonstrates the feasibility to set up the regional traditional Wushu comp- ulsory course in the P.E department and proposes some specific improvement measures and suggestions.The conclusions are as follows:1. at present, only ten of the thirteen P.E departments in Hebei set up traditional Wushu course, and Hebei Institute of Physical Education is the only one to set up Ba Ji Boxing as the compulsory course for each major while in P. E departments of the other colleges mainly list Primary Boxing, Elementary Sword, and Taichi Boxing as their main teaching content.2.The influencing factors of setting up the traditional boxing styles compulsory courses in P.E departments of Hebei province include:lack of corresponding teaching plans, teachers of traditional Wushu, relative textbooks, and high attention from the leaders. The problems to be solved involve many aspects such as curriculum setting, teaching team, and the construction of teaching materials.3. Wushu teachers and students in P.E departments of Hebei Province are highly interest-ed in setting up traditional boxing compulsory course. Besides, they thinks that, according to the practical conditions of the school, it is necessary to set up one or two boxing types as the compulsory course for each department and develop them into specialty courses.4. It deserves high attention form the leaders to work out a teaching plan on the traditi-onal Wushu compulsory course, list it in the Education schems and teaching plans, invite W-ushu experts and boxing teachers to train the teachers at the moment, and compile the traditi-onal boxing textbooks characterized by the regional Wushu culture of He bei province. All th ese measures contribute to the smooth and healthy development of traditional Wushu compu-lsory course.5.Hebei province has a rich traditional Wushu resource, dense Wushu cultural atmos--phere, and effective mass base, which lay solid foundations for the teaching of traditional Wu shu in the schools. Besides, traditional Wushu is characterized by its rich content and various forms so that it is easy for the students to master traditional Wushu in the schools, at the same time it helps to motivate the students' study initiative. In a word, it is feasible to set up tradit-ional Wushu compulsory course in P.E departments of Hebei province.
