Chinese University Baseball and Softball Association founded in Huangcun, Guangzhou in2004, which marks that the university baseball has become an organized, disciplined, supported group. Over time, Chinese university baseball and softball has developed for seven years. The number of member colleges and universities became as much as69now, while the early days of28. There is still a big gap compared with other popular projects, such as basketball, table tennis. The level of Chinese University Baseball and Softball League, far from expectations, develops at a slow pace. Therefore, a close study on development status, restricting factors and the countermeasures of Chinese college baseball teams is becoming significant in practice. This thesis tries to study on Chinese university baseball teams, which participated General Group of Six Chinese Baseball and Softball Tournament2010in Shanghai International Studies University. Through such research methods as literature review, interview, questionnaire and mathematical statistics, this thesis explores and analyses the restricting factors of Chinese university baseball teams, puts forward the countermeasures, hopefully to provide references for policy makers. The thesis drew the conclusions:most of the players in Chinese university baseball teams enjoy no subsidy in daily training, which seriously affects the enthusiasm of the players. Self-fund made most players difficult to participate the competitions. The conflict between training and study became a crucial issue. Security system after competitions is the driving force for the development of Chinese college baseball. Employment status of Chinese college baseball players is another problem. The employment of players in Chinese college baseball teams is not optimistic. Publicity for baseball is not enough through Mass media such as TV and Internet. School leaders did not pay enough emphasis on the development of baseball teams. Training methods in Chinese college baseball is backward. Short-term enrollment limited better training results. Limited space and equipment seriously affected the development of Chinese college baseball teams. The thesis reached the following suggestions:1) The team model of diversified funds raised will promote the improvement of baseball.2) A combination of physical education and mental education will make the level of Chinese college baseball higher.3) A clear reward system will become a driving force for competition and training.4) Employment of college athletes will resolve baseball players'worry.5) Try to get the support for baseball from school leaders and other staff.6) Full use of TV media and network platform would make baseball have more viewers.7) Make college sports teams enter the technological age sooner.8) Reform of student status and longer college enrollment would promote the development of college sports.9) Baseball field and equipment is the essential material conditions and good training conditions are the guarantee of daily training. The level of national baseball needs to raise, besides that of Chinese college baseball needs to be raised. Only if the level of national baseball rises will that of Chinese baseball do be higher.
