Since the reform & the policy pursuit of opening to the outside world, the Physical Education College reform in China has made a initial achievement. But the reform is not so enough that it affects the reform pace and falls behind the whole higher education reform in our country, especially in the teaching content and curriculum reform. The Curriculum reform of PE is the focal & difficulty point of Physical Education Curriculum in Higher Education, the key factor of personnel training. The course content is the carrier of education, which has a central effect on imparting knowledge and shaping personality during training qualified PE teachers.The compulsory course of track & field is one of the main courses for those who major in PE, and the teaching content also holds a large proportion in high school's PE& health course. Most of those majors will be engaged in high school's PE& health teaching, but the current training objectives of the track and field compulsory course is not consistent with social needs and the students'physical and mental development needs. Therefore, re-examining the track & field courses and strengthening the reform and research on the development of Physical Education has an important practical significance. Though literature, surveys, expert interviews, logical analysis methods, etc. this paper makes an investigation report on the teachers of track & field compulsory course in 6 universities, some school physical education teachers in Sichuan Province and those students who major in PE. And the results can be concluded as follows: Firstly, the contents of the compulsory course of track & field in Sichuan province are out-of-date, which has an over-emphasis on the competitive nature of sports, and is not consistent with social needs and the students'physical and mental development needs. Secondly, most of the teachers of track & field compulsory course would like to update their own knowledge structure. And there is a strong urgency in participating the continuing education or training. Thirdly, the teachers'academic structure and level titles of track & field compulsory course need to be improved. Fourthly, the teaching materials of track & field compulsory course in Sichuan province do not meet the "Track and Field Guidelines" requirements, some of which need to optimize, so as to increase the interest and improve their adaptability. Considering the currency of Physical Education Curriculum Reform trendsand the present situation of Track & Field course in Physical Education Curriculum, the author gives some suggestions on the development of Sichuan province's Track and Field Courses as follows: Firstly, we should optimize the content of track and field teaching and improve the teaching content system. Secondly, the selection of Track & Field teaching content should reflect the flexibility and diversity. Thirdly, in track and field program structure, we should consociate curriculum with activities. Fourthly, we need to write out some teaching materials of regional characteristics. Fifthly, improving the overall teachers'quality is the basic guarantee for improving overall quality of Track & Field teaching. Sixthly, the required Track & Field courses in the universities should be closely linked with physical education curriculum reform in the high school and society.
