Lunpola basin located in the Bangong Nujiang Suture zone between the Lhasa andQiangtang terranes of central part of Tibet. This basin was developed above the foldedYanshan basement, recorded mainly tertiary sediments accumulation, the sedimentsthickness can be reached3000m to5000m in the basin centre. The teriary recorddivided in to formation, that was NiubaoFm and Dingqing Hu Fm, Niubao Fmgeological age is rfom late Paleocene to late Eocene and from bottom to up the grainsize changed rfom coarse-ifne-coarse, the main lithology is black to red clasticinterbeded with mudstone, average thickness is over2500m. The Dingqinghu Fmgeological age is rfom Early Oligocene to Miocene and rfom bottom to up grain sizechanged rfom fine to thick, black to red clastic interbeded with mudstone. There arelots of controversy on stratigraphy and basin evolution mechanism, different authorsmade a discussion on this topic at different time, but there was no one has very strongevidence and data to support their idea, so the understanding of lunpola basinevolution mechanism still in immature stage. The purpose of this paper is thatsynthesis utilize outcrop data, well data to analysis lunpola basin’s provenance andSubsidence history, give certain level improvement on understand basin evolutionmechanism, and provide relative information and technical data suppotr for lunpolabasin research, even on Bangong-Nujiang suture zone lacustrine basin research.
