Research On Serpentine Jade Rfom Ji’an City, Jilin Province

This paper research from multiple perspectives on the chemical composition，physical properties，mineral constitution and structure of serpentine jade from Ji’an，Jilin Province，and conducted a comprehensive evaluation for serpentine jade fromJi’an City，Jilin Province．The mineral composition and structure of serpentine jade from Ji’an according tothe experimental of Lithic Facies Analysis under a polarizing microscope，X-raydiffraction analysis spectrum，Energy Spectrum analysis，electron microprobe，infrared spectra analysis. Serpentine jade from Ji’an is mainly constituted oflizardite and no other species serpentine． But it have dolomite， olivine andmagnetite．According to the experimental of Laser scanning confocal microscopyand scanning electron microscopy show that the microscopic surface of Ji’anserpentine jade has a lamellar structure．The composition of Ji’an serpentine jade is different from the theoreticalcomposition according to the experimental of chemical analysis．The content ofSiO2and MgO is lower than standard content．On Ji’an serpentine jade overall chemical composition is characterized byrelatively depleted of Si，Mg，rich of Fe，Al，H2O，Fe3+/Fe2+<1，so Ji’an serpentinejade formed weak reductive environment．Mechanical properties is an important indicator of the evaluation of jade．Selecti-ng some representative sample test their Mohs hardness (HM)， microhardness(HV)，brittleness，density，compressive strength of5determination of physicalconstants．Density range at2.2-2.83g/cm3；the compressive strength is mainly conce-ntrated in the3.24-7.56kg/mm2；measured hardness (HM) in the range between3-5.5；microhardness (HV) in the range between33-166kg/mm2；brittle grade1-3, b -ut the main is1grade．Radioactive detection of six representative samples, indicating that their levels ofradioactivity below the bottom line．That is safe to use.
