This paper relys on the second batch of minerals of geophysical research group ofthe mineral resource potential assessment in Tibet. The1:500000aeromagnetic dataand1:1000000regional gravity data are used to interpretation ultrabasic rocks andfault structures with geological reports and other information. And then the scope ofultrabasic rocks and their distribution of fault structures are identified. The abnormalfeatures of chromite ore body is studied with the example of chromite of ophiolite. Theroles and laws of aeromagnetic data in searching for chromite resources indirectly is aswell as inducted. After that the distribution of unknown chromite in the Tibet is inferedaccording to the distribution characteristics of aeromagnetic anomalies. And so themine prospecting potential is expanded.The Tibet known chromite deposits are mainly distributed in southern Tibet(Xiangquanhe-Yaluzangbujiang ultrabasic rock band) and northern Tibet (BangongLake-Dongqiao-and Nujiang ultrabasic rock band) two ultrabasic rock bands. Thetwo ultramafic rocks with a nearly east-west distribution of high aeromagneticanomalies bands response to the deep faults and rock distribution. We first use ofaeromagnetic data to identify high aeromagnetic anomalies to find the ultrabasic rockscontrolled by faults, and then through the ground aeromagnetic anomaly checks todetermine whether mineralization. For the mining of anomalies further to the censusin Tibet to find the chromite and detailed investigation to infer the ore body scale.Gravity anomaly should be checked in order to expand the mining area.In this paper, we concluded that the six chromite prospect area based onaeromagnetic and regional gravity anomalies. In the known ore deposits inferred sevenchromite prospect area to expand the mining area. Which two inferred in Luobusha area, four in Xiangkashan area, and one in Kangjinla area, can be a reference forfuture work.
