The Economic Investigation On Seawater Desalination In North China

Water shortage on the earth has severely affected the economic development of the world and people’s lives. Seawater desalination is a practicable method to resolve the water shortage problem. This thesis focuses on the economic issues of seawater desalination technology applied in north China, which mainly consists the following parts:1. Specification of the mechanism of various seawater desalination methods.2. Basic principle and technological process of reverse osmosis are introduced detailedly, including the necessary pretreatment system and the two-stage reverse osmosis system.3. Based on the operating data obtained from a reverse osmosis desalination equipment in north China, the advantages and disadvantages of the reverse osmosis technology are pointed out by discussing the operating condition, water making cost, operational percentage and the external influencing factors.4. The low-temperature multi-effect distillation technique is also introduced detailedly, including the system constitution and performance analysis of the equipment.5. Based on the operating data obtained from a low temperature multi-effect distillation equipment in north China, economy of low-temperature multi-effect distillation technology is analyzed.6. Combining the economy data of the reverse osmosis technology and low-temperature multi-effect distillation technology, a comparison for the application of the two techniques is made by pointing out the equipment stability, operational percentage, the practical water production per year, maintenance and overhaul. An optimal technological selection is also given on account of different application environment.According to the study in this thesis, the advisory opinion about the desalination method selection in north China is provided. Besides, some reference data are also provided for the investment and designing scheme of the desalination industry.
