The remote sensing images imaged and obtained’s inherent law determines itcannot be used directly,So in order to improve the image and the actual terrainmatching degrees, need to do image geometric correction processing.Thus toexplore the deformation law of remote sensing image theoretically,and find the highprecision, easy to implement and minimum error remote sensing image correctionmethod has become a hot issue of remote sensing application fields and in urgent needto be addressed. Geometric correction is a key link in the process of remote sensingimage processing, therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the quality and suitability ofthe remote sensing images’geometric precision. This paper based on the mediumresolution RapidEye images data and high resolution WorldView-2satellite imagedata,Carried out the of remote sensing image geometric correction and the geometriccorrection precision research work. On the basis of data processing,the papersystematically take the research on Relationship between the geometric correctionmodel, the source of control points, the number of control points and the remotesensing image resolution with the precision of remote sensing image geometriccorrection, and two kinds of image resolution can satisfy meet how much drawingscale. Through the comparative analysis, has obtained the following results:(1) The precision of remote sensing image geometric correction related to suchfactors as: the selection of correction mathematical model, the number and locationof ground control points, the sources and accuracy of control points,and the spatialresolution of remote sensing image.(2) The choice of the remote sensing image geometric correction model affectsthe precision of geometric correction, and the large topographic relief area shoulduse the Orthographical correction and then do the cubic polynomial geometriccorrection, the terrain ups and downs small area can be directly use the quadraticpolynomial correction, the correction precision can meet the specificationrequirements. (3) The method of polynomial geometric correction, geometric correctionquantity and positioning accuracy of control points is the assurance of accuracy ofremote sensing image geometric correction. Respectively use5meters DEM data and30meters DEM data for control, by applying different precision of geometriccorrection for remote sensing image and found that the higher control precision andgeometrical precision of the corrected image also is higher. But formedium-resolution remote sensing image, with the improvement of control pointprecision, after correction the geometry precision of image enhancement is notobvious.(4) On the basis of the same correction method, high resolution remote sensingimage after the geometric correction the geometric correction precision and remotesensing mapping precision is high, but in order to avoid the waste of resources,should according to the drawing scale to choose the appropriate remote sensing imagefor drawings.
