China is located in the active area of neotectonic movement, with earthquakestaking place frequently, which has caused a large quantity of geologic hazards. Loesslandslides caused by earthquakes, as a special geologic hazard, distribute widely inloess areas in China, which exert great effect on local people’s life and property safety. This paper chose the catastrophic landslide caused by a great earthquake of M8.5occurrences in Ningxia in1920as the research object and summarized the loesslandslide features, distributing laws, and movement features caused by the earthquake. The contents are as follows:1. This paper conducted field survey on loess landslide in the heavy disasterareas like Xiji County, Jingning County, Guyuan City, Haiyuan County and collecteddata of its flat form and directional distribution. On the basis of this, this papersummarized types, features of flat form and laws of directional distribution of loesslandslide caused by the earthquake.2. This paper conducted research on influential factors of landslide caused by theearthquake in the loess area and the result showed that the distribution of landslidewas closely related to the influential factors of landslide formation. And the maininfluential factors are geomorphological features, formation lithology, spaceenvironment on the ground motion response and the role of groundwater.3. According to the landslide data collected on the spot, the paper calculated theequivalent friction coefficient of loess landslide caused by the earthquake and thestatistics showed a relatively strong motility. The paper also studied the distributionalrelations of landslide volume and the maximum horizon distance of landslide, maximum height, and equivalent friction coefficient.4. The paper set up the prediction model of loess landslide caused by theearthquake. From the collected geometric data and induction factors of landslide, it selected useful data and then gained statistic equation of the total displacement and itsinfluential factors.
