Geochemical Characteristics Of Thallium In South China

Thallium is a typical dispersed element . Dispersed element is very low in the earth crust, extremely dispersive in the rock, very difficult to form mineral in nature, and the habitat of the mineral is infrequent . In recent years, geochemists have achieved fruitful results on studying of dispersed elements.In this paper, we using the abundant information of 76 elements geochemical map of South China research distribution and ecological effects of thallium, and offer the mining area of thallium.The study area is about 2,400,000 km2 , including Sichuan(contain Chongqing city), Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Zhejiang, Anhui and Jiangsu etc.12 provinces. The geological features of the study area is extremely complex, which includes 8 first class structure units, 70 deep, great faults and 20 area which have different rocks. We have analyzed 5253 stream sediment in 12 provinces in south China. The statistic on the data of 8 first class structure units and 10 secondary structure units is done in GeoMDIS. The median, average , maximum and minimum of the raw data of thallium are calculated. The characteristic of thallium in stream sediment show that the content of thallium in different structure units varies widely.There are abundant of thallium ore resources in our country. With the rapid development of economy,the quantity demanded of resources is becoming larger and larger. The research of mineral resources prediction of thallium in south China can provide first-hand information on prospecting of rare and dispersed elements in China and it is of great meaning of exploration of rare and dispersed elements in China.Thallium is a toxic element. A lot of thallium is released into air,water and soil in the course of exploitation. The thallium can enter to the body of human and living through the way of food chain,and accumulate gradually in the body,then cause chronic thallium poisoning of human groups or endemic disease. So studying the environmental geochemistry of thallium element is of great meaning.
