IPMC(ionic polymer-metal composites)is a new type of electrically driven intelligent material.which is made of a perfluorinated ion exchange membrane deposited with a nobel metal such as Pt onboth sides,when IPMC was applied low voltage on its surface electrodes, it will produce a largedeformation. On the contrary, when IPMC produce deformation, it will produce a electric field in themembrane. Therefore,it can serve as an actuators and sensors. IPMC has the broad prospect ofapplication in microelectronics systems, artificial intelligence etc. In this paper, the original modelbased on the preliminary studies was improved, considering the leakage of water molecules, theelectrical properties of cast IPMC membrane was obtained through experiments, and as a basiselectrical model of the electrical actuator model was build. Details are as follows:First, the original electric actuator model will be improved and perfected considering the effectof water leakage on the IPMC.We establish the holes model of the surface crack of IPMC and solvethe area of holes in unit area of surface IPMC using image processing method. Then we can solve thetotal number and area of the holes of IPMC through the surface area of the membrane. According toBernoulli equation we can get leak amount equation of the holes. In ion migration process and themigration process of water molecules combining with the leakage of water molecules we can solvemolecular concentration distribution on the base of which to solve the bending moment anddisplacement. Theoretical results show that the leakage of water molecules reduce the error of theoriginal electric actuator model of IPMC and the empirical value.Secondly, we test the characteristics of current and voltage of the blank membrane in the testplatform. First of all we can get law of current characteristics and determine the critical current.Under0.1Hz and various voltages(1V,1.2V,1.5V,2V,3V),at the same time we can test law of currentcharacteristics under the different frequency of0.1Hz,1Hz and10Hz and certain amplitude.Finally, we established the IPMC equivalent electric current model. The present paper firstexplores the current generating mechanism. According to circuit we can solve function of the circuitresistance, capacitance, inductance component values and current formula variable. Through the1stopt software fitting for the current under step voltage we can get variable value appling to functionof component values and current formula variable to solve component values. This statement issupported by comparison between different current measurement surveys and the results obtained bysimulating the model using PSpice.
