Today’s world, a high degree of social and economic development, and lined with tall buildings, asphalt roads are spacious highlights the development and progress of this age . As a social subject, the human in the process can be said to be denied. However, behind this bustling, how much has the human paid for? Destruction of the natural environment, indifferent relationships, gradual loss of the virtue, all of these aftermaths brought by the rapid economic development are beating us all the time.As the agency of people between people and people between environments, the outdoor public seating has demonstrated the existence of space, but also affected people’s behavior and life philosophy. How to make modern people feel the harmony and beauty that people between people and man between environments in urban life, outdoor public seating has played a crucial role. It can be said that the outdoor public seating is the medium, the bridge and an indispensable part of the outdoor public environment. However, in the modern design profession, the research of outdoor public seating design is extremely rare!Based on the understanding above, this paper want to do some analysis and research of the form semantic, colors semantic, materials semantic and other aspects of semantic of outdoor public seating from the perspective of product semantics, combining outdoor public seating existing development status. This paper attempts to explore the ways how to improve the relationship between people and people, people and objects, objects and objects, people and the environment, material and environment from researching the design of outdoor public seating. The following has been researched in this paper.Firstly, we understand the concept of product semantics, theoretical basis and the development process and studied the application principle and design process of product semantics. We have established a mechanism of shape, colors, and semantic database for the design of outdoor public seating to provide a theoretical basis.Secondly, we discussed the meaning of the outdoor space and the outdoor seating. By analyzing the concept and types of outdoor space, I know that the outdoor space is a vector of public seating environment and what kind of space will have what kind of seat. According to available information, we study and sum up the category, the materials and the features of outdoor public seating.Thirdly, we studied that how the knowledge of the product semantics was applied to the actual design of outdoor public seating. We have focused on the use of product semantics in the form , colors, space materials and surface mechanism of outdoor public seating.Finally, we use a concrete example to reflect that the product semantics plays an important role in the design of outdoor public seating.
