Hypoid gears are widely used in car axles as main transmission for the advantagesof large reduction ratio, smoothness in transmission, small volume and so on. Due tocomplexity in designing, tooth meshing quality can’t be controlled effectively. It is veryessential to optimize deisgning and seek new processing method of hypoid gears for thesake of improving meshing quality and reliability as running. A more intensivetheoretical research has been carried out in HFT method and contact region modifyingof fully conjugation in the dissertation.The analyse on hypoid gears space structure has been done and geometricparameters have been obtained. Combining with the features of formate and spread-blade cutting method, geometric parameters of gear have been obtained by the use ofVC software. Based on the theory of the local synthesis method, the geometricparameters computational formula of pinion have been deduced,similarly geometricparameters of pinion could be obtained combined with the knowledge of tilt and single-side cutting method and the machine tool parameters. Then, the tooch surface and rootsurface of gear could be calculated by MATLAB. After the division of5×9of piniontooth surface,protruding end and root surface, the three surfaces have been gained bythe use of tooth rotation projection principle.Importing them into UG and the three-dimensional models are achieved. Cutting three teeth of the pair of gears andassembling together,then imports it into HyperMesh, after meshing and settingconstraint condition, contact stress distribution and tooth root bending stress could beobtained in ANSYS. According the full conjugate principle, full conjugate points havebeen goten and so the partial conjugate tooth surface and the tooth root transition curveoptimization by modificating. Meshing dynamic simulation has been accomplished inUG at last which makes the observation of contact zone conveniently.The result of the loaded tooth contact analysis has verified the accuracy of themodel by taking advantage of HFT and reflected the root surface influences on reducing the tooth root bending stress. The result of the meshing dynamic simulationand experiment has verified the feasibility of the parabolic modification in thedirection of teeth and tooth profile.
