Sanitary ware is an indispensable part of modern architecture in the indoor, and the toilet pan is the most complex structure and high-tech ceramic sanitary ware. In this new era, the sanitary ware is not only necessary to meet user’s functional requirements, but also take saving energy and water into account. It is difficult to develop a high quality of new products just by hand skills and experience. With the rapid development of computer technology, the computational fluid dynamics have opened up the new avenues for study of flushing process and high flushing performance products. The flow model of the toilet pan, the research methods and the numerical analysis established in this paper have great significance in the key part of digital manufacturing of sanitary ware. The main research contents and results of this paper are as follows:The3D model of siphon toilet pan is the research object in this paper. The flushing process of unsteady multi-phase model including whole flow field of toilet pan has been established in this paper. The multiphase includes air (gas phase), water (liquid phase), and sewage (liquid phase). With the previous studies of this science and technology projects, the numerical calculation method of toilet pan flushing process have been identified.The flow field characteristics, the state distribution and siphon law curve of different flushing mode have been obtained by numerical calculations. Through the impact velocity and rotational speed of the siphon vortex flow on the wall of water bowl to reflect the wash capability. And by the percentage of residual sewage after the siphon vortex phenomenon to reflect the transportation capability. The numerical evaluation method of siphon pan flushing performance have been established. By changing the water outlet tilt angle to change the vortex strength of water flow into the water bowl, the relationship between water vortex and washing performance of toilet pan have been gained.the water hole tilt angle on the toilet pan outfall structure design requirements have been proposed.This study from the siphon and vortex phenomenon in flushing process to obtain washing performance, siphon performance and the drainage pipe structure design requirements. On the basis of this study, the numerical simulation combined with more experimental verification, the numerical methods and value judgments of toilet pan flushing performance could be further improved. And it is a important reference of design theory and methodology for toilet pan structure design of high flushing performance.
