Mechanical industry is one of the key industries of China’s national economy. Environmental, health and safety (EHS) management has been commonly concerned by machinery companies. The core of EHS assurance system is to identify and evaluate comprehensively the environmental risk, adopt targeted meaures fitting character of machinery industry., which is very important for machinery industry to improve ability of environmental risk precaution and emergency response measures.In this paper, the environmental risk was identified according to the traditional process of machinery industry. LEC method (L:likelihood E:exposure C:consequence) was used to identify the risk factors. Based on investigation of national and foreign studies, significant risk evaluation system was built according to environmental and health& safety. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) couple with expert judgement method was to determine the weight of indicators. The system was used in a typical machining industry company and resuls indicated that the most significant risk is in painting unit. The model combining concentration disperse and exposure assessment was set up to assess the impact of waste gas emission from painting process. ALOHA software was utilized to calculate the response distance and results were compared. Finally some measures was proposed to maintain effectiveness of EHS management system.
