This paper is based on the long-term monitoring the stability of underground gold mines ofeastern Hubei and on the analysis of underground collapse of Tao Huashan mine as well as thestability of its lower mining opens, the underground mining opens of these areas need acousticemission to closely monitor the stress changes, so it is necessary to chose a set of equipmentwhich is reasonable in economy and feasible in technique, after a further selection, choosing theYSSC type acoustic emission monitoring equipment produced by the Wuhan Steel Group ofsafety and Environmental Protection Research Institute Company Limited.The equipment of YSSC has the advantage of simple operation, easy to use and highreliability, but it can only artificial record, there is no saved data to check, it is prone to distortthe data. And it can not meet the goaf of real-time continuous monitoring requirements. Thoughmany large-scale AE monitoring system meet the functional requirements, as to the costs arehigh, they are not suitable in small mines economically.In conclusion, the paper aim to the development of WUST type AE monitoring equipment,which not only reserves the artificial monitoring mode, but have the function of real-timecontinuous monitoring, data saving and the output of real-time data. The equipment adoptsZigBee wireless communication technology to transmit data, selecting XBee module to form awireless communication network, achieving the goal of PC data analytical processing. In theprocess of trials, selecting the-580m level of4#point to test the acoustic emission monitoringdata, through the comparison and analysis of the tested data, achieved the expected effect. Testshows that the developed AE monitoring equipment not only applicable to small mines, and itcan be popularized to other small mines and concerned fields.
