The goaf is one of the main disaster sources in mine, which does great harm for safety production of mine. It can result in disasters easily, such as goaf collapse and ground subsidence, so the relevant study on goaf stability has great significance. According to the engineering practice of goaf masses in Huogeqi Mine, a study is carried out on stabilty analysis and virtual simulation of deformation instability process of goaf in the paper, by means of rock mechanics test, theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and virtual simulation. Its purpose is to analyze the goaf stability more reasonably and accurately and show its deformation instability process omnibearingly and vividly. The main research contents are as follows:(1) Determine the machnical parameters of rock mass of the orebody and rock in the research area. Firstly, carry out indoor rock mechanics test, inclouding density test, uniaxical compressive strength test, splitting tensile strength test and triaxical test; Secondly, carry on engineering reduction of the machnical parameters of rock, and obtain machnical parameters of rock mass the orebody and rock according with engineering practice, by means of the New Hoek-Brown strength criterion.(2) Establish the3D geometry model of all goaf, and obtain its information. According to the contour maps of goaf in the mine, establish the3D geometry model by the3DMINE software, and then obtain the information of all goaf, such as the distribution, volume and height.(3) Complete the establishment and caculation of the numerical model of goaf stability, and make numerical analysis on the goaf stability. Firstly, based on the work above, establish a numerical model of goaf stability by means of the coupling among3DMTNE, MIDAS/GTS and FLAC3D; Secondly, according to the result of numerical caculation, analyze the displacement, stress, plastic area of the surrounding rock of the goaf; Thirdly, establish a classification standard of goaf stability according to the displacement, stress, plastic area of the surrounding rock and information of the goaf, and make a judgement on the level of the stability of all goaf.(4) Establish a virtual simulation model of deformation instability process of the goaf, and realize the virtual simulation of it. Firstly, based on the numerical simulation, creatively realize the coupling between FLAC3D and EnSight, and establish the relevant virtual simulation model with it; Secondly, show the dynamic response process of the surrounding geologic body of the goaf and dynamic deformation instability process of the typical goaf omnibearingly and vividly, by means of vitual simulation animation mainly.
