With rapid economic development in China, industry and construction increase the demand of rod, wire and pipe so that higher requirement for the machining industry is raised. Because the level of China’s metal rolling production industry is lagging behind, new technologies and equipments are in urgent need to transform the industry. As a new generation of bar, wire and tube processing equipment, three-roll planetary mill has outstanding advantages such as one-time large deformation,no rotation rolling, energy-saving and environmental protection,so has become a concern for the development of rolling industry. Therefore the study on it has important practical significance.The paper briefly describes the three-roll planetary mill related information, including:the emergence and development of the technology, the mill structure and the transmission principle, the advantages and inadequacies. On the basis of existing theoretical research, establish the mathematical model of the rolling process.Using a computer programming tool,under numerical analysis method to calculate the rolling process force parameters.Targeted the same rolling requirements proposed three-group designs,detail calculate at one of designs and obtained details of the rolling process force parameter. Make the design as prototype,using finite element analysis software ANSYS/LS-DYNA,targeted the elastic-plastic deformation process of rolling,establish simulation model. Then load and analysis calculation,obtained the stress, strain, deformation and movement situation of the rolling,thus more clearly understand the force of the rolling process parameters and rolling molding process. Analysis to the data of finite element calculation,verify the design can be achieved no rotation rolling.Finally, based on the rolling force of the three-roll planetary mill parameters and the conclusions of the finite element simulation analysis of three groups PSW mill design parameters comparative analysis, Investigate some effects of the three-roll planetary mill based on roller taper change, including the influence of the rolling force, rolling torque, rolling efficiency, rolled piece for performance, roll materials and the mill structure,which provide the basis for the design of roller.
