The underground mechanical car parks have played an enssential role in mitigating car parking difficulties in modern cities, and the way how to ensure fire safety of the car park is one key part of its design. Due to the closed configration and compact parking of the underground menchanical car park, the temperature within the park would increase singnifiantly in case of fire, which could highly lead to fire spread into a large scale and pose heavy chanllenges to the integrity of cars parked in the underground park and the safety of occupants and properties in buildings above the park. Therefore, the research on temperature distributions of the underground mechanical car park under fire conditions and fire spread mechnisim among cars would have vital significances. This thesis mainly applies the small-scale experiment and theoretical analysis to study the underground mechanical car park fire behaviour. The main contents and results of this dissertation are as follows:(1) Consider an underground mechanical garage in Guangzhou as the engineering background, and based on Froude number scaling, the reduced scale modeling (scale reduction is1:5) of an underground mechanical car park and relevant testing system is built.(2) The temperature distributions of different underground car park fire cases in the reduced scale are obtained. And the impacts of fire power and the ventilation system on temperature of the underground mechanical car park are analyed. At the same time, the impacts of parking unit on fire on temperature of the adjacent units, opposite direction and upper units of the underground mechanical car park are obtained.(3) A dynamic Bayesian Probability model of fire spread among park units in the underground mechanical car park based on fire dynamics and Bayesian network is configurated in this thesis.(4) The law of fire spread among park units in the underground mechanical car park is obtained and prcautious methods have been proposed to prevent fire spreading in the underground menchanical car park.At present, a small amount of research on the underground mechanical car park fire has been conducted in China comparing with abroad. The fire design of the underground mechanical car park has a few prescript codes to adhere. Thus, the experimental data and results of this thesis could provide reference for further study of underground mechanical car park fire and compiling the fire protection design.
