Fire science is a subject of deterministic and the randomness. Due to the certainty of firescience, so you can explore it in using the means of simulation studies; and due to therandomness of fire science, so a large number of fire data for statistical analysis is needed.In today’s performance-based fire safety design, the general design is based onperformance objectives, including: smoke control settings, water systems control settings,building structure settings, while the consideration of the research of fire risk control and firespread outside is less. Especially for the control of fire risk of external of large-scale buildings,because of the human, financial and other difficulties and it is difficult to do physical test, soit is importtant to pay more attention to the implementation of computer simulation.In this paper, the basic characteristics of fire spread and the fire risk of external buildingwas analyzed firstly;then,the method of simulating fire spread using computer was foundedon the research of scale model that including experimence and simulation by applying theFDS software,which laid the foundation for the simulation of the fire spread of large building;Finally,on the base of fire analysis and fire investigation this article achieves fire spreadsimulation of the construction of external and internal combining with practical example,andanalyses fire temperature and fire temperature on the structural safety.The conclusions are as follows:Fire spread depends on the characteristics of combustiblematerials and the dimensions of materials,the position and size of fire and environmentalconditions;The means of testing is validated with the simulation parameters are feasible;Thephenomenon of simulation and experimental is consistent by adjusting the simulationparameters;The most main method of simulation control is setting parameters of combustiblematerials,especially,and the most important parameters are ignition that determines whetherthe simulation of fire spread and heat release rate that determines the rate of fire spread;Thetemperature of simulation and the tempreture of test is also consistent;The affect of firetemperature and fire duration is respectively expressed in the fire time of equivalent burst andthe fire resistance analysis in the search of the fire safety of building structure.This article has a very convincing and realistic means through the analysis of simulationand test scale models and the summary of the law of fire spread and the analysis of largemodels and then combined with a real fire case analysis.It also provides a reference of thepre-fire scenario of performance-based design.
