| Water pollution is one of the most serious environmental problems in China. Tostrengthen management is an important task for preventing water pollution of rivers andreservoirs and water protection. Because of the obvious spatial characteristics of waterenvironment information, it needs to process and analyze efficiently and accuratly. GIS haspowerful information management capabilities and dynamic analysis capabilities. So, it is aninevitable trend to GIS applications in water quality management.The paper analysed present water environment at home and abroad, pointed the trends ofGIS applied in water environmental management information system. The paper introducedthe theorys of MIS, GIS, VB, ADO and DBS, discussed the necessity and feasibility of waterenvironmental management information system based on GIS. Combined with the advancedtheory of water environmental management in Tai’an and the theories of water qualityassessment and prediction, designing object, technology roadmap, overall design, mainfunction and development environment of system software and hardware etc. of Tai’an waterenvironmental management information system were comfirmed.The main study results of paper were as follows: Tai’an map was digital simply byArcGIS and MapGIS. Visual Basic6.0and GIS secondary development unit were used todevelop Tai’an water environment management information system, realized the functions ofmap zoom-in, map zoom-out, map pan etc. to digital map. The attribute database was creatlyby Access2003. It realized the management to attribute database and spatial database. Itrealized to evaluate to rivers and reservoirs and counted the results in the form of reports andcharts. It realized the functions of river water quality forecast and visualization displaymentof the result. It realized the functions of users management etc..In the paper, combined with GIS and water environmental management informationsystem, visual Tai’an water environment management information system was created whichprovided IT platform efficiently and improved the water quality management anddecision-making. The system has a friendly interface and simple operation which canapplicable to the water environmental information management of small and medium-sizedcities similarly. |
