With the development of science and technology in modern society, the processing precision of the mechanical products becomes much higher, especially in those parts which have complicate shape and high ratio of depth to width. It is difficult for us to polishing or deburring them. The way of traditional polishing can not get the processing requirements. But the abrasive flow machining can finishing the manufacturing task.The principle of technology such as abrasive flow is analyzed and researched in this paper, and impact on the influence of channel shape, temperature and viscosity for abrasive flow machining, the points for attention of the fixture design, the connecting structure between fixture and machine, and analysis of the major support parts by finite element analysis.First of all, we take a single grain of the abrasive as a research object, make mechanical analysis for it. The results have shown that axial force, radial force, active grain density and grain depth of indentation, all have a significant influence on the scale of material deformation. We also find that rubbing mode of material deformation dominates in the present research; however, some evidences of ploughing during AFM are also present.Secondly, the influence of channel shape which between the part and the fixture is investigated, and in order to understand the mechanism of decrease of material removal efficiency with temperature, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach is applied to predict the abrasive particles movement tendency. In the velocity vector field and pressure distribution simulation, commercial CFD software FLUENT6.3is used. Finding out the way of avoiding the serious wearing occurs at the place of leakage flow between component and fixture and horn hole during the abrasive flow machining appeared.Thirdly, Structure designing of abrasive cylinder, hydraulic cylinder, cooling device, designing the connecting structure between fixture and machine. The polishing equipment is modeled by three-dimensional software, CATIA, and support for some parts of the strength check.Finally, the3D model which is parts carrying the main stress was inputted to the ANSYS to make the pictures of equivalent stress, equivalent elastic strain and deformation. The pictures show that they satisfying the strength and stiffness requirement, the results have prove that the rationality and correctness of this design...
