| Product semantics is an essential theoretical basis in the modern design field. Bystudying the semantics of seat products in the context of Chinese traditional culture and theinfluence on seat semantics of Chinese traditional culture,this paper analyzed the semanticsof different seat products in different times. The main work is as follow:(1) This study summarized the developing process of product semasiology, introducedthe content of products semantics, and examined the expressing and rhetoric methods ofproducts semantics.(2) Based on the analysis of evolvement of Chinese traditional seats, seats style wasresearched in different historical periods with consideration of the characters of traditionalseats, whose diversity is manifested in modeling, decoration, materials, function and culture,etc.(3) The content framework of traditional seats semantics has been proposed according tothe study on semantic feature of traditional seats. This paper also analyzed the influence ofChinese folk culture, patriarch system, spiritual heritage on product semantics.(4) The semantic of modern seats embedded Chinese traditional culture has been studied.By analyzing the differences and interactions of product semantics between China and othercountries, the design process of seats product semantics was proposed. Seats were designed aspart of the study with their product semantic analyzed.Through the above research,this paper summed up the content and expression ofChinese seats semantic, and emphatically discussed the traditional culture conveyed byChinese seats semantic. |
