Strip mill is the key equipment of strip steel production. For many kinds of mill types,how to choose the right type as required is important. In this paper, three demensional stripplastic deformation model and rolls elastic deformation model are coupled to be acoupling model method for shape prediction which has high computing precision and fastoperation speed. Based on it, the shape simulation and mill type evaluation software ofcold rolling strip is established considering strip temperature and rolls thermaldeformation during rolling, which is significant for mill type selection, craft improvementand research of new products.At present, results coupling method is adopted universally in shape simulation. Threedemensional strip plastic deformation model and rolls elastic deformation model areiterated. Divergence or slow convergence rate is easy to happen during the iteration coursebecause shape is sensitive to the transverse distribution of strip exit thickness. In this paper,the two models are integrated in one linear equations according to their implicit relations.It avoids the instability of results coupling method and improves the calculating speedmarkedly. The caculating results of coupling model method fits well with the caculatingresults of results coupling method, which certifys the practicability and reliability ofcoupling model method.During cold rolling, heat energy injected into the work roll and strip results fromfrictional contact, deformation, heat conduction and heat convection. This can result inthermal deformation of the work roll, the change of roll gap shape and bad strip shape.The uneven transverse distribution of strip temperature resulted from axial temperaturedifference in the roll surface can change the strip shape. For more accurate calculation ofstrip shape, strip temperature field model and rolls thermal deformation model areestablished in this paper.The mill type evaluation is based on the shape control performance evaluationindicator system. It is modified in this paper. The flatness evaluation indicators areproposed and compared with the thickness evaluation indicators. According to the improved evaluation indicator system, kinds of mills are evaluated.Through the comparison of calculate results and measurement results of the sixrolling passes in one factory, the effectiveness of offline simulation in this paper isverified.The interface of the shape simulation and mill type evaluation software of coldrolling strip is developed with Excel VBA, and the core procedure is developed with C++,which avoids instability of the software. The advantages of Excel and C++are given fullplay respectively, getting the software with high-speed, stable, accurate calculation andhumanized interface.
