Resistance welding is widely used in the aerospace, shipbuilding,automobile and has become the most commonly used welding way inindustry because it has many advantages such as easily operation, explicitfunction, easy to guarantee welding quality and realize mechanization andautomationThis paper researched the working principle of SCR, cycle process ofresistance welding, and the mathematical model of some parameters in thewelding process. On the basis of familiar with resistance weldingcharacteristics and welding quality control method, we designed amulti-mode resistance welding machine controller, realized the automationof resistance welding process. The controller uses two MCU as its centerand makes the welding process control and the auxiliary function controlindependent, thus reduces the working load of each single MCU andensures the reliability of the welding control process. Hardware andsoftware of the controller are all using modular design method. Throughcooperation between modules, they can realize the automatic control ofvalve, single point welding, continuous welding, and other functions. Atthe same time, the controller can achieve real-time acquisition of fourparameters including welding current, electrode voltage, dynamicresistance and surface temperature of welding pieces, and real-timetransmission is also realized to analyze the parameters. ZLG7289is used inthis system to management the function of display and keyboard and thusprovides a concise and comfortable man-machine interface.Making welding pieces under different welding current, volume and speed of energy output, surface cleaning condition as well as the highestsurface temperature conditions, we collected lots of experiment data in theworkshop. Using matlab to analyze the data, we concludes that weldingquality is easily affected by the fluctuation of grid voltage, and differenteigenvalues of dynamic resistance, total output energy, welding piecestemperature can cause different welding quality. This conclusion laid agood foundation for the development and improvement of multi-modewelding controller.
