In this paper, N-(chloro-acetyl)-alanine and3(S)-methyl-morpholine-2,5-dione(MMD) were synthesized by different methods, and the synthesis technology wasstudied, respectively. Meanwhile, a series of novel biodegradable materials weresuccessfully synthesized by copolymerization of MMD and poly(p-dioxanone) whichwas prepared by homo-polymerization.Firstly, using L-alanine as the raw material, continuous dropping method andbatchwise feeding method were used to synthesize the target product. Respectively,the pH of the solution, the addition speed of chloroacetyl chloride andsodiumhydroxide, the temperature of reaction and the speed of blend wereinvestigated, which affect the yield of products. Meanwhile, the products werecharacterized by melting point apparatus. At the same time, the pilot-scale productionof MMD precursor was carried out.Secondly, using MMD precursor which was prepared byN-(chloro-acetyl)-alanine, solution method and sublimation method were used tosynthesize MMD. By the solution method, the temperature of reaction, the amount ofsolvent, the addition speed of triethylamine and the temperature of reduced pressuredistillation were investigated, as well as the pH of N-(chloro-acetyl)-Ala sodiumsolution by the sublimation method, which affect the yield of products. Meanwhile,the products were characterized by melting point apparatus, FT-IR and1H-NMR,which confirmed the product was3(S)-methyl-morpholine-2,5-dione.In the polymerization of PPDO, the amount of stannous octoate catalyst, thetemperature and time of reaction and the amount of HDI were investigated, whichaffect the Molecular weight of polymers. At the same time, the mechanical propertiesof polymer PPDO were tested.In the copolymerization of MMD and PDO, P(PDO-MMD) with differentcontents were synthesized by optimizing feed radio of MMD and PDO, which wastested by FT-IR and1H-NMR.
