| During the long history of development, jewelry has been endowedwith different functions and meanings. Nowadays people wear jewelry notonly to beautify themselves, but also to show their personality and innerspirit or regard jewelry as emotional sustenance. There is different emotionappeal hidden behind those functions. By focusing on user’s emotionaldemands and incorporating emotion factors in jewelry design, designerwill be able to offer user a pleasant emotional experience which can arouseuser’s sympathetic response to jewelry products and create value beyondthe material.This article began with user experience, researched the experienceuser might have gained while possessing the jewelry products, andanalyzed how to motivate user’s emotional feedback with the theory ofthree-tier experience level. Secondly, this article deeply studied the user’semotion level and summarized user’s different emotional demands ofjewelry based on the hierarchy of needs theory. Furthermore, the writerlaunched the scientific user research aiming specific group of youngconsumers to verify the theories above and seek for design directionsworthy of attention, which were aesthetic demand, the self need andbelongingness need.Then, this article analyzed and summarized the application ofexperience levels theory in emotional jewelry design. With the help ofmany jewelry design cases, the article described the application in tenspecific areas which were shape, color, material in visceral level, physicalinteraction and digital interaction in behavioral level and cultural factor,narrative factor, symbolic factor, memory factor in reflective level.
