With the development of computer technology and automatic control technology, theindustrial product that have complex surface is used widely more and more. CNCtechnology is applied to surface processing effectively. The multi-axis CNC machiningtechnology is especially used in the complex surface processing.Author designs a CNC milling machine which process large size complex surfaceparts in this paper. This milling machine is mainly used to process spiral bevel gear.Overall layout of machine is identified as column moving single-arm type. Author design ainternal organ named power head by function analysis method. Establish two pillarstiffening ribs forms. Finally, author make finite element analysis of parts and wholemachine. The main research contents of this paper are shown as follows:(l) Through the analysis of complex surface processing principle, the motion form ofdesigned CNC milling machine is determined as five linkage moving form. By thecompare of various milling layout forms and movement distribution form, the layout formof CNC milling is determined as column moving single-arm type. Based on this layoutform, author design a transmission system that reducer driven screw drive directly;(2) Make qualitative and quantitative analysis of internal structure of the power head byfunction analysis method and analytic hierarchy process. Filter out the “motor-driven-swing guide rod institutions-spindle swing body” structures program. Considering to thefactors that saving space and improving stiffness, author change the swing guide rodinstitutions to the rotary pendulum structure. The higher pair becomes lower pair toincrease stiffness;(3) Design of supporting large structures. Select the I-beam cross-section form andcalculate the wall thickness. Author design two kinds of strengthening rib layout form bydata and draw three-dimensional model;(4) In the analysis part, author make static and modal analysis of the two kinds ofstrengthening rib layout forms. Use workbench to do assembly analysis of the two forms. By looking at figure of the stress and strain, author draw the conclusions that twostructures have good strength and stiffness. Choose lateral rib column form from qualityperspective.
