The insulating glass is widely used in building, automobile, decoration, furniture, technology information industry and other industries, because of its good sound insulation, heat insulation, frost prevention, prevent condensation and other excellent properties. Based on the insulating glass being widely used, it promotes the production line equipment of the domestic insulating glass to develop rapidly, but because the study of insulating glass processing equipment started late in China, it has not mature products, but mainly relies on foreign imports in current domestic. This article mainly takes the key components of the vertical glass edge grinding machine for research which plays an important role for speeding up the localization process of insulating glass processing equipment.Racks, brace and pinch roll are the key structures of the vertical glass edge grinding machine and their deformation can directly affect the machine precision and service life of the glass edge grinding. In this article, on the basis of the summary of the current research status of static analysis by static analysis at home and abroad, it firstly has the finite element static analysis for racks, brace and pinch roll by using the ANSYS11.0respectively. The analysis shows that the maximum stress value of Racks, brace and pinch roll is far less than the allowable stress of material and meets the design requirements. Secondly, according to the results of the finite element static analysis, to reduce the production cost of vertical glass edge grinding machine, it proposes the structure improvement plan of racks, brace and pinch roll, and takes the improved structure for finite element static, analysis again. Analysis results show that the improved structure of racks, brace and pinch roll is not only satisfy for the strength and the rigidity requirement, but also can save materials and reduce the production cost.The lower grinding head driving system and transmission system is the key transmission systems of the vertical glass edge grinding machine and the rotational inertia of the two systems has important influence on the starting response characteristics of vertical glass edge grinding machine. Based on summarizing the research status of the mechanical optimization design method which is used to analyze the transmission system optimal design in home and foreign, this article takes optimization design on the grinding head driving system and glass transmission system respectively by using the MAI LAB optimization toolbox. The results of optimization design on two transmission system shows that the value of system inertia has reduced sharply and it has improved the starting response characteristics of vertical glass edge grinding machine.
