Cold-rolled stainless-steel strip can be produced efficiently by high speed rolling in a cluster-type rolling mill with small-diameter work roll due to its high deformation resistance and high surface quality requirement. The key technology of the surface quality of ferritic stainless steel in tandem cold rolling need to research and develop for it has not made a breakthrough yet. This paper is established in the pratical project of the key technology reseach of ferrtic stainless steel in tandem cold rolling, the lubrication technology of SUS430in tandem cold rolling is developed, and the industrical production theoretical basis of SUS430is given. The main works and results are as follows:(1) The impact between the emulsion and process of strip rolling is reseached, and the effect of temperature, concentration of the emulsion on the rolling force and the strip surface quality under the conditions of different surface roughness, reduction ratio distribution, rolling speed and tension system is studied.(2) The reason of the surface quality defect of SUS430in rolling process is summuried and the solution is proposed, and the surface defects of the roller and strip caused by unreasonable reduction distribution and lubrication. The mechanisms of the heat scratches, the breakdown of oil film, vibration of the mill and sticky roller are specifically analysed.(3) The lubrication, cooling and cleaning of emulsion are studied, and the effect of the main technical parameters of emulsion on the surface quality of SUS430is reseached.(4) The formation mechanism of film of SUS430during rolling process is studied, the relationship between the oil film thickness and the concentration of emulsion is analysed, the relationship between rolling parameters and film thickness are reseached, the relationship between the oil thickness, micro-defect rate and the deformation rate of the strip are investigated and the adsorption mechanism of the friction conditions between roller and strip of SUS430on the emulsion is studied. (5) The key technology of SUS430in tandem cold rolling is developed, and a set of SUS430stable rolling process is proposed. A large number of field test proved that the rolling process schedule make tandem cold rolling of SUS430come true and the surface roughness of strip after rolling, annealing, pickling and flating meet the technical requirement and the heat scratch repeatly appeared during tandem cold rolling of SUS430is, to a certain extent, solved.
