The numerical controlled lathe is a kind of highly precise and efficient automatic machine tool, which, in the batch production of complicated components, has achieved great economic effect, and has become a sort of important equipment in modern manufacturing. In recent years, with the demand of economic-friendly lathes growing, the production of more functional and powerful machine tools has been increasing. Therefore, the sheet metal protection, as the machine tool’s coat, has entered a new stage of development, which needs to be more innovative, more economical and more practical to occupy the market.This thesis, taking ETC3650as an example, analyzes the exterior features of ETC-Series numerieal controlled lathes, and according to the basic principles man-machine engineering, focuses on the protection and processing technology design of the numerical controlled lathe ETC3650. Based on the three-dimensional simulating by means of SOLIDWORK software, sufficiently analyzing the structure of the ma chine tool’s main parts under the help of mechanical design knowledge, as well as considering our existing equipment and technical arrangement process, the thesis decides on the structures of the support pieces, sliding, line-go ng, rotation, etc. At the same time, the parts welding requirement improves the welding strength of a complete set of protection, ensuring the welding quality results to be obtained as expected.
