Improvement of socio-economic level gives rise to a rich life, thoserequirements for food are also rising: not only the safety and healthy but alsonutritious and delicious. However, conventional heat sterilization technology can notmeet these requirements. In this case, High-voltage Pulse electric Field technology(PEF), especially in the safe, less sterilization time, less energy consumption, highefficiency, retaining the characteristics of the food flavor and nutrients, becomes ahot research direction. High voltage switch performance directly affects the ideal ofthe pulse, but mature vacuum switching technology can not meet the actualrequirements, so switching technology has become a bottleneck to limit thedevelopment of PEF technology industrialization. By reading a lot of literatures, thispaper found the development of solid-state switch, and studied species compositionand performance characteristics of high-voltage solid-state switch. Thecharacteristics of the study determine the research of high-voltage solid-state switch,which based on the IGBTs series connection.By analyzing the principle of the IGBT structure, the paper studies the reasonsfor the IGBT series pressure failure, and confirmed through the Orcad/Pspice circuitsimulation analysis. According to the characteristics of the traditional researchmethods, the paper combined with the excellent performance of high-voltage triggerdiode, then creates a new method to solve the problem of voltage balance in theIGBTs series connection. The methods’ name is advanced initiative voltage balanceof gate side method. The Orcad/Pspice shows that this method has an excellentperformance.The paper designs the main circuit of high-voltage solid state switch, byusing high voltage power electronics technology, power electronics technology andcontrol technology, for example, the selection of main circuit structure, driver circuitof IGBT with MC33153, zero-crossing detection circuit on the mains frequencytracking and signal processing systems on a variety of signal analysis. The experiment, which builds a high-voltage solid-state switch with series offour-IGBT experimental circuit, had the desired effect, and the obtained waveformanalysis. Experimental results showed that the design theory of the test equipmentwas valid, and it can meet the actual requirements for IGBT series solution to theproblem.
