Sensory integration is very important to children. Through sensory integration, children can learn their body and the environment, and can adapt to different needs, play anappropriate role. If the sensory integration has dysfunction, children would have learningdisability, relationship issues, and dysgraphia and so on.By using literature analysis, interview, questionnaire and the Delphi method, thisresearch developed Children Sensory Integration Instrument (CSII) and built theterritorial norm of every sub-inventory, assessed the current situation of children’s sensoryintegration functions and analyzed the gender, grade, age and the birth difference and so on,and explored the factors which would affect the sensory integration functions. The participants are16529children aged at6-12in Kunshan, and EXECL, SPSS13.0and AMOS7.0are used for data process. The study arrives at following conclusions:(1) CSII consists of seven sub-inventories: sensory discrimination dysfunction, gravitational insecurity, the apraxia caused by sensory integration dysfunction, posturalmovement dysfunction, tactile defensiveness, vestibular dysfunction, and the emotionaland behavioral responses caused by gravitational insecurity;(2) The norm of Kunshan is reliable and valid and can be used as a standardassessment instrument for children, and the data can be used for sequels to reference;(3) Most children are normal in sensory integrative development, but42.11%ofchildren have sensory integration dysfunction (SID). The rate of boys’ SID is higher thangirls’, and the number of SID of lower age is larger;(4) There are significant differences in ways of teaching and the education of fatherabout children’s sensory integration functions. And the functions of sensory discrimination, gravitational security, and praxis, vestibular and tactile are different because of thedifferent marriage, the frequency of being touched. Besides, there are significantdifferences in grade, age, gender, family atmosphere, family income and expectationsabout some sub-inventories;(5) Children’s gender, mother’s health, feeding method, caress, playing, educationalmode, education attitude and mothers’ educational status will affect the functions ofsensory integration. Among them, mother’s health have the biggest impact on children’ssensory integration functions, then followed by playing, and the mothers’ educational statushave smallest impact.
