Object iveThe objective of the subject is to observe the effect of the kidney nourishing therapy on the estrogen level of menopausal breast cancer patients taking Aromatase Inhibitors.Methods32cases met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into2groups: the treatment group (16cases) taking traditional Chinese kidney-nourishing medicine, Aromatase Inhibitors and calcium carbonate D600, and the control group (16cases) taking Aromatase Inhibitors and calcium carbonate D600only. The effect of the kidney-nourishing therapy on the estradiol level and lumbar spine bone mineral density of menopausal breast cancer patients taking Aromatase Inhibitors were systematically evaluated, by observing the changes of estradiol level and lumbar spine bone mineral density in every six months. Meanwhile, to observe the effect of medicine on liver and kidney function and hematopoietic system, tumor evolvement and changes of internal environment, the checkups of hemanalysis, biochemical indicators and related tumor markers (CEA and CA-153) in every3months, and the checkups of six sex hormone and lumbar spine bone mineral density in every6months were made to every case. All data were analyzed by SPASS17.0. Results were expressed in the form of average plus/minus standard deviation, and the comparison of averages between groups was made with T-test.Results32cases are put into our research practically, and3cases of the control group was excluded due to the metastases. After6months’therapy, the estradiol level of the treatment group was obviously increased (P<0.05) by10.188pg/ml, while that of the control group was slightly decreased (P>0.05). After6months’therapy, the lumbar spine bone mineral density of the treatment group was obviously increased by0.042g/cm2and1.81%(P<0.05), while that of the control group was obviously decreased by0.077g/cm2and2.99%(P<0.05).Cone I us ionThe results of the research illustrate that traditional Chinese kidne y-nourishing medicine has a positive effect on estradiol level after6mo nths’therapy, in the range of menopause only. It is suggested that tradi tional Chinese kidney-nourishing medicine and Aromatase inhibitors has a superimposed influence on estradiol level. However, no conclusion has bee n reached on whether the influence is positive or negative. Traditional C hinese kidney-nourishing medicine have some benefit in increasing lumbar spine bone mineral density and relieving osteoarticular symptoms. Futherm ore, according to the changes in Kupperman Index of treatment group, taki ng traditional Chinese medicine is helpful in relieving the symptoms of f ormication, fuss and courbature.
