| Background:Primary dysmenorrhea is a common disease occurs among women, especially unmarried young girls, which refers to the spasmodic pain in lower abdomen and lower back before, after or during menstruation. It has a strong impart on quality of life and work of women. The course of disease is over and over and the treatment is not easy. Traditional Chinese medicine has a long history and and good effect on treating primary dysmenorrhea. The resent research on using acupuncture and moxibustion to treat primary dysmenorrhea shows that there is an exact effect of the traditional acupuncture therapy. So the acupuncture and moxibustion treatment can be popular.Objective:Seeking for a therapy which is more efficiency and simple in curing primary dysmenorrhea by this study. Making an observation on the improvement of symptoms of primary dysmenorrhea by the study. Making an observation on the clinical recent effect and long-term effect.Method:1. The prospective randomized controlled study chose60cases from the Guangzhou Hospital of TCM during December2010to March2011, which was in accordance with the diagnostic and indrawing standards, to be the subjects of the study.2. The patients were randomly divided into2groups, with30cases in each group.3. The Treatment Group was given acupuncture treatment and the acupoints used were diji, zhongdu, shuiquan. The acupuncture treatment begined in the first day of menstrual period until the end of menstruation, once a day. The Control Group was given drug(300mg bid) treatment.4. Before and after each treatment, each group made a integral evaluation and analysis of symptoms of dysmenorrhea scores and visual analogue scale scores. There were all three courses treatment. A menstrual cycle was a course treatment. The treatment of a course effect regarded recent effect, and three courses regarded the long-term effect. Observed the recent and long-term clinical effect.Results:1. Physical datas There were30cases in each group. There were no significant differences in the age, symptoms of dysmenorrhea scores and visual analogue scale scores before treatment, course of dysmenorrhea. The two groups were comparable.2. Symptoms of dysmenorrhea scores There were no significant differences in the symptoms of dysmenorrhea scores before treatment. The two groups were comparable. Compared the treatment of before and after, the difference of symptoms of dysmenorrhea scores was statistically significant. After the treatment of3courses of dysmenorrhea, the difference of symptoms of dysmenorrhea scores was statistically significant compared with the beginning.3. Visual analogue scale scores There were no significant differences in the visual analogue scale scores before treatment. The two groups were comparable. Compared the treatment of before and after, the difference of visual analogue scale scores was statistically significant.4. The recent clinical effect The curative effect as compared with before the treatment was significant statistical different. There was no significant statistical difference between the therapeutic group and the control group.5. The long-term cl inical effect The curative effect as compared wi th before the treatment was significant statistical different. There was significant statistical difference between the therapeutic group and the control group. Therapeutic group was better in relieving pain than the control group.6. The efficacy of the therapeutic group was96.7%; the control group was86.7%.There was significant statistical difference between the therapeutic group and the control group.Conelusion:Acupuncture treatment has a similar recent efficacy of curing dysmenorrhea with the drug groups. Acupuncture treatment has a better long-term efficacy of curing dysmenorrhea with the drug groups. |
