BackgroundLung cancer is one of the first common malignant tumors in the world, and it is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women, about75%-80%are Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). Most patients are diagnosed in the advanced stage. The Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) have been important in advanced NSCLC treatment, and the EGFR gene test for exon18-21mutation has been a necessary test for guiding treatment strategy in NSCLC. In clinical practice, we find that EGFR mutation-type patients are most with Cold type syndrome and EGFR wild-type patients are most with Heat type syndrome, but it is lack of Evidence-based support.ObjectivesTo identify the relationship between the TCM syndrome type and the EGFR gene statement in Stage â…¢/â…£ NSCLC patients. This research may find another factor to forecast effect of EGFR-TKIs in TCM theory.MethodsA total of100previously untreated patients with â…¢/â…£ NSCLC will be enrolled in my research. Patients will be divided into Cold group or Heat group according to the TCM syndromes, and will be divided into mutation group or wild group according to the EGFR gene test for exon18-21mutation. Relationship between the TCM syndrome type and the EGFR gene statement will be analyzed.Result1There are difference between mutation-type group and wild-type group in sex and smoking history. 2In overall analysis, relationship between the TCM syndrome type and the EGFR gene statemen is analyzed (P<0.05)3In subgrouped analysis, male with smoking history and female without smoking history, relationship between the TCM syndrome type and the EGFR gene statement is analyzed (P<0.05). Male without smoking history, relationship between the TCM syndrome type and the EGFR gene statement is not analyzed (P>0.05). There is no related data for female with smoking history in my study.Conclusion1In the whole, the TCM syndrome type are maybe related to the EGFR gene statement in Stage â…¢/â…£ NSCLC patients. EGFR mutation-type patients are most with Cold type syndrome. EGFR wild-type patients are most with Heat type syndrome.2In subgrouped analysis, in male with smoking history and female without smoking history, the TCM syndrome type are maybe related to the EGFR gene statement in Stage â…¢/â…£ NSCLC patients. EGFR mutation-type patients are most with Cold type syndrome. EGFR wild-type patients are most with Heat type syndrome. There is no relationship between the TCM syndrome type and the EGFR gene statemen in male without smoking history.
