ObjectiveTo investigate the mental health status and the influencing factors of the immigrants during transitional period from Danjiangkou Reservoir Area of the middle route of South-North Water Transfer Project, also find the high-risk group and provide scientific evidence for psychological prevention in future.Methods392random samples of migrants during transitional period and the388counterparts were selected delaminated and they were assessed with symptom checklist (SCL90) and self-made general investigation forms. This study mainly usesd SPSS17.0for statistical analysis, and drew up a series of conclusions form Reliability and Validity Analysis, Unvaried and multivariate analysis which were performed with the Logistic regression model to understand the psychological status and the influencing factors of migrants during transitional period.ResultsThe cronbach’s alpha coefficient of items in the SCL-90is between0.808and0.965. Spearman-Brown coefficient is between0.649and0.951, the correlation coefficients of overall scales and items are between0.813and0.926. The correlation coefficients of all items in SCL-90are between0.612and0.851. The overall mental health status of the immigrants in transitional period is worse than that of their counterparts.The mental health level of male and femal of transitional immigrants is lower than their counterparts, while there is no difference between male and female transitional immigrants.The mental health codition of the immigrants in transitional period is worse than their counterparts in different age groups. The15-30age groups are prior to have psychological problems, such as interpersonal sensitivity hostility phobiaparanoid and schizophrenia etc. however, there was no significant difference between60aged or above group and other groups. The mental health of transitional immigrants is worse than their counterparts at different educational levels, while the meatal health condition of the transitional immigrants with higher educational background is worse than others. The mental health status of the transitional immigrants whether married or not is worse than their counterparts, as to the transitional immigrants, the mental health level of the group without spouse is lower than that of group with spouse. The mental health of transitional immigrants is worse than their counterparts at different occupation. Among the transitional immigrants, the agricultural group is prior to having psychological problems such as hostility schizophrenia than other group. The mental health of transitional immigrants is worse than their counterparts at different income groups. However, there is no difference in the transitional immigrants. About the self-subjective feelings of the immigrants, the mental health condition of the group who were satisfied with the policies is worse than that of who were not satisfied with the policies. The mental health status of the group who were used to the environment and the custom is better than that of who were not used to envivonment and custom of the resettlement place. The mental health condition of the immigrants who feel life become well than before is worse than others. And the mental health status of the immigrants who feel the resettlement places good is better than others.ConclusionFirstly, SCL-90used to evaluate the mental health status of immigrant in transitional period in this paper has been shown good reliability and validity.Secondly, in general, the status of the mental health of the immigrant is worse than their local counterparts. Mental health level of migrants in age group of15-30years, without spouse, with higher-educational level and non-agricultural group, is significantly lower than others. The migrants mentioned above are the high risk group with adverse psychological conditions so that special attention should pay to their psychological health.Thirdly, after analysis on subjective feelings of immigrants, we found that their satisfactions with the policies, their adaptation to a new climate, environment, eating habits of immigrants’ settlement and their overall evaluation on settlement were the important factors which have a great influence on the mental health level of immigrants.
