Objection:To investigate the effects of previous-local-sub-hypothermia on thetherapy of hypothermia in rats after focal cerebral ischemic and reperfusion. Methods: Sixty SD rats were randomly divided into six control groups(n=5in each)and six SH groups (n=5in each). All models were made by clipping the doubleinternal carotid. The rats in the SH groups, but not in the control group, were treatedwith previous-local-sub-hypothermia. After cerebral ischemic and reperfusion bothgroups of rats were given therapy of hypothermia. Rats were killed at3h,6h,12h,24h,48h,72h. Pathological changes were observed with hematoxylin andeosin dye.The infarct volume, brain water content and the number of infiltratedPMNLs and apotosis were observed.Result: Compared with those in CH group, the peaks of apotosis and infiltratedPMNLs were postponed, and the amounts of apotosis and infiltrated PMNLs weredecreased obviously(p<0.05).The deficit scores were reduced(p<0.05),and there werestatistical significance in brain water-content(p>0.05) in12h,24h,48h groups. Conclusion: The previous-local-subhypothermia can strengthen the protection ofhypothermia after cerebral ischemic and reperfusion.
