| Objective To compare the effect, safety, tolerance of carvedilol with metoprolol in children with dilated cardiomyopathy.Methods①hildren dilated cardiomyopathy from September2006to November2011in Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University randomly divided into carvedilol group(24cases) and metoprolol group(24cases).②After controlling heart failure, the patients began to oral carvedilol from0. lmg/(kg-d) or metoprolol from0.5mg/(kg·d).③The two groups increased dose every two weeks.④The most large dose was respectively0.8mg/(kg-d) or2mg/(kg-d), then maintaining the treatment about12months.⑤Evaluating cardiothoracic ratio,LVEDV, LVESV, LVEF,LVFS,LVmass, drug safety and tolerance of two groups after treatment and for comparison. Results Cardiothoracic ratio,LVEDV, LVESV,LVmass significantly decreased and LVEFJ.VFS significantly increased after treatment in comparison with befor treatment in carvedilol group and metoprolol group (P<0.05). Heart size and function were no significant differences in between Carvedilol group with metoprolol group befor treatment and after treatment (P>0.05). The tolerated dose and safety of drug was slightly higher in carvedilol group compared with metoprolol group(P>0.05). They did not have statistically significant difference. Conclusions Both carvedilol and metoprolol can reverse left ventricular remodeling and improve cardiac function of Children with dilated cardiomyopathy. Carvedilol and metoprolol have higher safety and better tolerance. Safety and tolerance of Carvedilol may be better, which will be necessary to be proved by more center and larger sample of research. |
