Objective: To explore the clinical result of fixation on the distal femur fracture withLISS(Less Invasive Stabilization System) comparing with the methods of using theanatomical plate. Methods: We collected the patients of femoral fractures in total41cases fromAffiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Orthopedicfrom2009.6to2011.3,including of20patients treated with LISS and21treated withanatomical plate. In the Anatomical plate fixation group, there were17males and4females,with age from22to65years(mean,40.09±12.72years). In the LISS fixationgroup, there were15males and5females,with age from21to61years(mean,41.10±10.89years).The two groups were compared in patients with incision length, amount of bleeding, surgical time, fracture heeling time, and the degree of improvement of the postoperativeknee function using the HSS score. Results: Postoperative anatomical plate group were followed up for12-18months, anaverage of12.9months; LISS plate group were followed up for12-18months, with anaverage of13.2months. All incisions healed. The anatomical plate group, excellent andgood was85.7%, and the LISS plate group was89.9%. There was no significant betweenthe two groups, P>0.05. Operative time, surgical incision, the amount of bleeding, fracturehealing time, the LISS plate group was superior to anatomical plate group, P﹤0.05.Conclusion: LISS and anatomic plate in the treatment of complex distal femoralfractures can be achieved satisfactory results, LISS compared with anatomic plate hasadvantages on the reduction of operation time, bleeding volume, surgical trauma, fractureheeling time.
