Objective:To observe the effect of acupuncture on metabolic syndrome patients with pattern of phlegm turbidity obstructing. Methods:Simple randomized and controlled method was used to analyze100patients according to inclusion criteria. The treatment group with50cases and the contrast group with50cases were treated by basic treatment including diet therapy and sports therapy. The contrast group was treated by basic treatment and western medicine. The treatment group was treated by basic treatment, western medicine and acupuncture.14days were a period of treatment. Two groups were treated by28days.Results:1.Significant differences were observed in waistline, fasting plasma glucose(FPG), postprandial blood glucose(PBG), systolic pressure(SP), diastolic pressure(DP), body mass index (BMI), triglycerides(TG), and High density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL) between before treatment and after treatment(P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in waistline, FPG, PBG, SP, DP, BMI, TG, and HDL between treatment group and contrast group (P<0.05).2. There were statistically significant differences in clinical curative effect between treatment group and contrast group, treatment group was significantly better than the control group,(P<0.05).3. The treatment group (92%) is significantly higher than contrast group(76%) in total clinical curative effect(P<0.05)Conclusion:Acupuncture can improve the waistline, BMI, FPG, PBG. SP, DP, TG, and HDL of metabolic syndrome patients effectively. It is an effective method to cure metabolic syndrome patients with pattern of phlegm turbidity obstructing.
